Root: Abys - No bottom

Abysmal - Extremely bad or of a very low standard.
(Mal-Bad)
Abyss - A very deep wide space or hole that seems to have no bottom

 

Root: Acri / Acer – Sharp/ Bitter/ Sour

Acerbic – Expressing harsh or sharp criticism in a clever way.
Acrid – Sharp or bitter in taste.
Acrimony – Harsh or bitter words or feelings.

Acuity – Sharp ability to hear, see or understand something i.e. very easily
Acupuncture – Method of curing illness or relieving pain by placing sharp pointed needles into a person's skin.

Agonism – Struggle
Agonist – A person engaged in a contest, conflict, struggle, etc.
Agonistic – A person who is very aggressive.
Agonize – To think or worry very much about something.
Agony – The struggle that precedes death or intense pain of mind or body.
Protagonist – An important person who is involved in a competition, contest or conflict.
